BABA SAFARI (1920-2003)


Baba Safari, the legendary historian,teacher, lawyer and politician in Iran, including in Azarbaijan, the wise and father of all Azarbaijani people, remains with us; in our hearts, in our minds, because he departed from our world in his form only, while his soul, wisdom and achievements remain forever.


We all, pray to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in peace as we will commemorate the third death anniversary of Ostad Baba Safari: the father who loved his people, and devoted his life to the service of his city, Ardabil and all Iranians.
On July 14, 2006, our belief in God's will and destiny gets mixed with our pride, admiration and respect for the father of history of Ardabil, Baba Safari, who was always honoured with his people's love, both in his life and after his death.




God honoured Ostad Baba Safari in his death by placing his name among immortal people, peacemakers and accountable persons, with a reputation of being a symbol of good deeds that benefit people.
With the sunshine of every new day, we wake up feeling that Baba Safari remains with us; many students are asking where is our Baba; where is the legendary man, who defended his people, their language and history against those ignorants. But Baba Safari will be remembered forever as his good deeds and great achievements stand as evidence of his rich legacy.




All Ardabilis and most of Iranians are feeling honestly that Baba Safari's soul remains among us. His wonderful smiles as he was walking to his office, in the Iranian Ogaf's organization on the Fransse St. in downtown of Tehran, his sweet Azarbaijani accent in teaching of the litrature in schools, his methods and legacy live with us every day. We feel he always shadows us with his ideas and thoughts that provide us with determination and optimism.

We sense him speaking in his warm and tender voice, encouraging us to work, do good deeds and look for glory. Many people in Ardabil and in Tehran, who learned the books of history, geography and sociology in their schools, are talking about the authors of these books, including Baba Safari; he wrote with 3 other teachers more than 16 books for schools of Iran.





When we are alone with ourselves, Ostad Baba Safari shares the isolation.
After 3 years, or tens of years and forever, Ostad Baba Safari's memory, life and way of life will remain immortal in history and among all people.

Baba Safari will remain alive in our hearts not because of his great achievements as a veteran politician, a key figure of many prodemocracy activities in Ardabil, who carried his Azari and Islamic people in Ardabil and Azarbaijan in his heart, but also because he enjoyed the same morals of the noble ancestors.

Mr.Baba Safari is one of the rare personalities whom leadership, fortune, achievements and prestige had not spoilt. In fact, it strengthened his belief in God and inspired him to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in loving people and helping the needy, and being a kind-hearted, gentle, soft-spoken, decent and pure man.The presence of his deeds and achievements among us reduces the pain of separation from a father, who loved us, who wrote about us, who lived with the name of his people.



On the day of his death on July 14, 2006, people of Ardabil and all Iranians, who enjoyed and benefited more than 17 years from his services in schools and Iranian Ogaf's organziation and also all today's political and religious leaders of Iran, who know him and benefited alln his humanitarian assistances in the time of shah, miss Baba Safari very much. Baba Safari was a man for democracy and freedom; he opposed to any kind of tyranny.
They miss his voice of wisdom at a time when there is turmoil and a bold stance is missing. On the third anniversary of his death, we pray to God to rest Baba Safari'soul in peace, promising to carry his legacy in our conscience and minds, and pass it on to our sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughers and cultivate it as a fruitful plant that will benefit generations ahead.
